NatGeo Everest North Face Ski Expedition abandoned from Camp II

  The Everest Ski Project architected by top American climbers has almost ended citing a bad weather condition as the team reached Camp II via Hornbein Couloir route in Tibet. According to a source at the basecamp, the Everest project team has given up from the Camp II as it faced adverse weather condition along the Hornbein Couloir route. "A team of rope fixing Sherpa climbers today returned to the base camp wrapping up their plan to fix a route above Camp II," sources confirmed. The team reached Camp II but it decided to retreat after getting instructions from the project management, an official who closely monitors the expedition told THT from the base camp. The OTS Academy based in Oxford, UK and a host of international partners are organising the 12th international conference on sustainable tourism and development in Pokhara from October 9.  The organiser said that the three-day conference will be held under the theme ‘Risks and Opportunities in Uncertain Times’.  “We aim to provide a forum for academics, emerging researchers, policymakers, industry practitioners, marketing professionals, and destination managers to discuss the latest sustainability issues and challenges in tourism in an era of uncertainty due to climate change and Covid-19,” said the organiser.  The conference aims to bring together leading academics, researchers, and industry experts to exchange and share their views on the current situation facing tourism.
